The road, Whiskey Run, ends on this Oregon beach that is approved for vehicles. Mud tracks curved through the newly washed-in logs, some of which had to be cut to make way for the cars. Freshly sawn logs created some nice orange color to contrast with the browns and blues of the beach.

This painting is named for two of the major rock formations
at Bandon, Oregon. One is Cat Rock in the Face Rock Legend.
The other is the large hollow Cathedral Rock with its
various doors and windows. The rocks are a continual
source of subject matter for paintings as the ever changing
coastal light and ocean tides present them in new ways.

Coquille Point in Bandon is a great place to view Elephant Rock and the Pacific, especially at high tides. This King Tide almost covered the beach. The various inlets, tunnels, rocks and wide beach make for interesting wave patterns.
