Whiskey Run

The road, Whiskey Run, ends on this Oregon beach that is approved for vehicles. Mud tracks curved through the newly washed-in logs, some of which had to be cut to make way for the cars. Freshly sawn logs created some nice orange color to contrast with the browns and blues of the beach.


Pink Foam

Pastel Society of Oregon’s “Water Challenge”

Congratulations to Antonia Carriere for winning the Pastel Society of Oregon’s “Water Challenge” with her image of Owynee River North Fork. I received one of three Awards of Distinction for my “Jetty Surge.” The other Awards of Distinction went to Janis Ellison for her “Turquoise Water” and to Nancy Sorrell for “Down Under.” All of the images of pastels entered and winners can be seen on the PSO website,   http://www.pastelsocietyoforegon.com/winners_page.html

Expressions West 2016

Johnson Creek Mist


Under the Boardwalk


The Expressions West 2016 juried competition opened at the Coos Art Museum on April 22.  “Johnson Creek Mist” was awarded an Honorable Mention and “Under the Boardwalk” received an Award of Merit.

For the show, Juror Leslie Kenneth Price selected 61 paintings by 55 artists from California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

The show runs through June 25, 2016.  Coos Art Museum, 235 Anderson Avenue, Coos Bay, Oregon.   http://www.coosart.org

The king tide surged through the mouth of the Coquille river for an up close look at wave action.

the rocks and cliff at Coquille Point in Bandon.
